Book News, The Heir, The Siren, Touring

The Heir, Events, and The Siren!

Hello Selectioners! I have three things I need to update you on, so go get some hot chocolate and snuggle up for a bit… okay, ready?

First, this is news that you should know by now, but in case you’ve missed it, we finally know if Maxon and America are having a boy or a girl. Turns out… it’s both! Yes, we have Schreave twins coming! And as far as who will be born first, it’s our baby girl. What does that mean? How will her/their future unfold? Well, that’s all to come. For now, hope you’re excited to know about the babies, and, of course, stay tuned for more Heir related news coming soon!

Second, the year is starting to wind down, and I have a handful of final events on the horizon. First, I have a visit to Costco in Winston-Salem, NC this weekend. It’s a bit of an interesting situation, so click here for info you might need if you’re coming. I’ll also be heading to the Netherlands as well as YallFest in November. Once I have my final schedule for these trips, I’ll post them on my Events page.

And, finally, some news I’ve been DYING to share! If you’ve recently tried to get a copy of The Siren, you might have noticed it’s kind of impossible. And that’s because IT’S BEING RE-RELEASED THROUGH HARPERTEEN! What does this mean, exactly? Well, first, it means you can't get a copy right now. But mostly it means I get to go back through with my editor and make it the story I always hoped it could be. It will sparkle in ways I couldn’t make it on my own, and that makes me crazy happy! It will also be released in hardback with a new cover and some bonus material for the fancy new bind up! We don’t have a solid release date yet, but it’s tentatively Winter 2016. So early 2016ish. I can’t tell you how happy this makes me. I’m still in love with Kahlen, Akinli, and even the Ocean herself, so I’m thrilled that it will be more polished and available in stores in just about a year.

So, that’s everything I can share for now! Which is a shame because there are even more awesome things happening behind the scenes that I can’t wait to tell you about. Hopefully soon! Later, nerds!

Prequel Time!

I get questions about a lot of the other women in America Singer's life. The maids (of course), Marlee, and (one my personal faves) Queen Amberly. It seems to be quite a mystery to most of us how such a wonderful woman could have ended up with Clarkson. But soon, you'll all know the answer! We're taking you back to the last Selection to see Amberly's story unfold in a new novella!

Descrption for The Queen:

Before America Singer’s story began, another girl came to the palace to compete for the hand of a different prince….

Don’t miss this digital original novella set in the captivating world of Kiera Cass’s #1 New York Times bestselling Selection series. This prequel story takes place before the events of The Selection and is told from the point of view of Prince Maxon’s mother, Amberly. Discover a whole new Selection with this inside look at how Maxon’s parents met—and how an ordinary girl named Amberly became a beloved queen.

HarperTeen Impulse is a digital imprint focused on young adult short stories and novellas, with new releases the first Tuesday of each month.

The Siren

More Siren News!

Very excited to share that The Siren is also going to Brazil! I never thought that would happen for this book, so I'm thrilled to see it being translated. For both Russia and Brazil, I will try to post dates as soon as I have them. I will keep these under the FAQ for The Siren, as I have done for The Selection. Yay!

Book News, The Siren

The Siren is traveling!

I have super cool news: The Siren, the novel I self-published before The Selection, is getting translated into Russian!

I have to be honest, when I heard this might be happening, I was shocked and giddy. I still love Kahlen, Akinli, and the rest of the girls, and I'm very happy that a whole new audience will get to meet them.

In a related note, I just got a royalty statement for The Siren. The fact that anything came at all is super cool, because it means you're reading it, and it still amazes me that you guys take the time to find that book. I admit, it's not as polished as I'd have liked, but I'll always have a heart for that story, so thank you all for reading.

And, to any Russian readers stopping by, I hope you love it!

First Review for The One

It's barely two months until The One hits shelves, and I know you guys are always aching to hear more news about it. Well, I just got the first review back from Publishers Weekly. This is what they had to say:

"America is as willful and defiant as ever, making her both a target of King Clarkson’s wrath and the darling of the people of Illea. She and Maxon continue to butt heads even as the chemistry between them remains palpable."

Officially Kiera

After trying to register myself on a social media site recently only to find there was already a Kiera Cass on there pretending to be me, I realized it might be helpful for you guys to have a list of all the social media sites I’m actually on, and the names I’m listed under. This way, if you only want the serious book stuff, you know exactly where to go. Or if you're looking for shenanigans, well, I can help you there as well!

But let’s start with my website. Everything on this site is 100% official and completely book related. I keep this as up to date as possible since this is the hub. If there is something you feel should be covered here and isn't, please leave a comment. I want you guys to be able to find all the information you need somewhere here!

Twitter- (Kiera Cass) Twitter is probably the way I communicate with my readers the most. It’s the fastest way to get information out, and I sometimes share things there before I do on my website. It depends. It’s a little bit of everything: book stuff, family stuff, lots of lyrics, and I like to do chats (a la Question Monday) there. I do not follow back, but I do read ALL of my replies. Even if I don't respond, I see you!

Facebook- (Professional: Kiera Cass) I do have a personal facebook page, but I am no longer adding people there if I do not know you and am in the process of deleting most unknown friends. Unless I ask you to, please don't send me a friend reqest. Also, I do not read the direct messages here. I post lots of book things on my personal page but am currently moving all bookish things to my author page. It is co-run by Samantha (who set up the page and ran it almost completely on her own for years, all the while giving me access to it. Very cool!) and myself. All official book things.

Tumblr- (partylikeawordstar) This started as a place to collect awesome fanmade art, AUs, etc. I reblog a lot of that, as well as a bunch of stuff about One Direction and the book world in general. I also tend to answer questions there because I can do it in a longer form than twitter. This is a pretty laid back version of me, and not intended to be a professional platform. I share things there because there's a fandom, but it's pretty chill. Tags I check: Kiera Cass, partylikeawordstar, The Selection, The Elite. Not The One because of random junk.

Youtube- (kieracass) My channel is a mix of things. I make lots of videos following the publishing process, as well as general videos about life, and there’s a bunch of stuff about my kids. I don't post there often these days, but I still love making videos.

Pinterest- (Kiera Cass) I do have boards dedicated to every book I've made at the moment. I also have ones about food, clothes, Rob Pattinson, and things that make me laugh. I don't update often.

Vine- (Kiera Cass) Almost exclusively videos of my kids. This is mostly for me and my family to enjoy, but you’re welcome to follow. Tags I check: KieraCass, TheSelection.

Instagram- (partylikeawordstar) This is a new one for me, and I don’t intend to use it very often, but you never know. Tags I might check: partylikeawordstar, KieraCass, TheSelection

There are a handful of other places you can find me as well like GoodReads and Google+, but I am never there. It's a waste to try to contact me through those mediums.

I hope this explains things and helps you decide what's most useful for you as a reader. Naturally, I can't participate in everything, so my time on certain places is limited. I would personally suggest you find me on twitter to be most up to date. Thanks for hanging out with me!

News, The One

Happy Valentine's Day!

If you somehow missed it, today I shared six new teasers from THE ONE. Just in case you didn't catch them (or any of the others I've shared so far) here they are. All sneak peeks in the future can be found on The One's FAQ page.

#1: "I apologize for being out of uniform, sir."

#2: "Come out, Mer, it's Max."

#3: I found myself admiring them, wondering at the courage it took to run toawrd danger for the sake of other people.

#4: There is a different kind of beauty that comes with humility and honesty.

#5: "No one will know. And seeing as you were with the prince, I won’t ask questions. Whatever you did, I’ll trust it was something important."

#6: I watched as the palace was transformed. Almost overnight, lush Christmas trees lined the hallways of the first floor, garlands were strung down the stairways, and all the floral arrangements were changed to include holly or mistletoe.

#7: "I need your help." Without batting an eye, he responded. "Anything.

#8: "I didn't stand a chance, did I?"

#9: "Are you scared?" he asked. "No." "Me neither." But I was pretty sure we were both lying.

#10: I felt our noses brush in the dark, and the urge to kiss him came unexpectedly fast.

#11: "It makes me nervous to feel some of the things I do. But I want you to know, I'm still looking at you, too."

#12: His body was now up against mine, his hand low on my back, holding me to him.

Heading to Target!

Hey all! I just wanted to let you all know, there's another place for you to get a signed copy of The One! Target is offering an online only pre order of signed copies of The One. I'm very excited about this because if you wanted to get a signed copy, but maybe didn't want to get the Barnes and Noble special edition with the bonus stuff, you finally have that option.

Let me try to get to some questions before they get asked:

  • Does this have the poster and bonus chapters? No!
  • Will this be available in stores? No!
  • What about internationally? You'll have to check Target's shipping policies. I have nothing to do with that.

I think that's all for now. Enjoy!

Special Edition! 2.0!

Guys. You guys, listen. Listen, okay? I’ve been keeping a secret. It’s true, I’ve been hiding something. But it’s time to come clean.

You know about the special Barnes and Noble edition of The One that comes with a delicious poster and a bonus scene. We've discussed this. It’s out there. Well, what you don’t know is... that you can get that special edition signed!

Yes, I’ve been working away, signing tip in sheets (little pages that say The One on them that I sign and will then be bound into the actual books) for a few weeks now. I’m so excited this exists because, while I will be touring this spring (dates to follow!), I won’t be able to come everywhere. So hopefully this means a few of you who wouldn’t be able to get a signed copy otherwise will now.

Just to be absolutely clear, there are a limited number of signed copies, so run along. And, yes, it will still have the bonus scene and poster. The description isn’t 100% clear, but it will! If you have questions, leave them and I’ll try to follow up soon.

News, The Selection Stories

The Selection Stories Audiobook

A few months ago, a handful of voices were sent my way as possibilites to speak the parts of Aspen and Maxon for The Selection Stories. I listened to all my options... about a dozen times! And then narrowed it down to my top pick and backup for both.

I'm so happy to tell you today that both of my top picks were able to do the audiobook of The Selection Stories! Nick Podhel will be the voice of Maxon, and Tristan Morris will be the voice of Aspen. You can listen to them introducing themselves on HarperCollin's soundcloud page!

While we're talking about this though, I want to give a little shout out to Amy Rubinate, who has voiced America for all of the books. She's been hanging out all along and has done a really lovely job. You can listen to a sample of Amy reading as America on the Amazon page.

How do you feel about the voices of our three main characters? Personally, I'm stoked!

The Guard, The Selection Stories

An Update on The Selection Stories and The Guard

So it’s 2014. February is just around the corner which means that very soon, you will be able to get your hands on The Guard and The Selection Stories. I’ve been aching for a while to talk about every little thing you’re going to get in The Selection Stories, so grab your Skittles and pay attention, because this is everything that’s going to be in bind-up:

-The long awaited novella from Aspen’s point of view, The Guard.

-The Prince. But not just any old version. An extended version. You heard me!

-The complete list of the Selected girls

-The breakdown of the castes

-A Q&A with me. I’m Kiera. I wrote the books.

-The playlist for The Selection, along with where lyrics tie into lines from the book.

-The same thing for The Elite’s playlist.

-America, Aspen, and Maxon’s family trees with some bonus details to explain their families.

-And, of course, the first three chapters of The One!

Now, if you’ve already purchased The Prince, and you don’t want all that extra stuff, you can still order the ebook of The Guard and receive the first two chapters of The One with that.

Either way, awesome things are coming this year.

Trust me when I say, this is only the cake. The frosting has yet to come. And there will be sprinkles eventually. Trust.

Both go on sale February 4th!

FOLLOW UP: There were several questions raised about content, where to pre-order, and a few other things. I did a blog post to clear things up. Please leave any new questions there, and I'll add on!

Contests, General, News, The Elite

Fun things!

Hello, all! I just wanted to update you on a few things in The Selection world.

First, yes, back from Brazil, which was awesome. Hoping to find time to make a video, but not sure it'll happen! Maybe a blog post will be the best I can do. And France is just around the corner... like... this time next week holy poop!

Second, if you didn't know, there's a fanart contest happening on tumblr! Hop on over and make your best art. Prizes include signed books, a tumblr follow from me, and a one-on-one chat.

And three, there will be more to come from other places, but, for now, here is your first deleted scene from The Elite! You can find it under the bonus content section for The Elite listed on my BOOKS page. Enjoy!
